A few years ago we started homeschooling our kids. Jake is 8 and Elyse is 6. It has been one the hardest things I have ever done but has now become one of the most rewarding and joyful experiences of my life. Homeschooling was also something I said I would never do, but God had a different plan!
Our family is also in the process of adopting from Uganda. We are adopting an 18 month old boy! Jason and I have always talked about adoption but it had become one of those things that we kept saying we would do “someday”. Someday! I was adopted and that always made it easy to bring up the subject. But, it was always way too easy to say, “not now...we are not ready... we have this and that going on….we can’t afford it….we need a bigger house”, and on and on we would go. Well, looking back, God was patient with us through all of that, and this fall, after keeping up with friends who were bringing home their second through adoption and also reading a book called Radical by David Platt (READ IT!!) we felt God saying it is NOW! Enough living for yourselves, enough of "counting the costs" just do it! So, at the end of October we put in our application to Holt International’s Waiting Child program and we were matched in the beginning of December with our son!
So, while not being wonderful writers by any stretch of the imagination, we hope this will be a nice and easy, simple way to tell people a little bit about our lives and our journey to Uganda to bring home our son! More to come soon….
Love
Tracy
